Islamabad: The National Assembly of Pakistan, under the guidance of Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, has appointed conveners for the Parliamentary Friendship Groups (PFGs) aimed at strengthening relationships with parliaments worldwide. The appointments, made on July 4, 2024, are part of efforts to foster diplomatic and economic ties through enhanced inter-parliamentary collaboration.
According to National Assembly of Pakistan, Speaker Sadiq emphasized the importance of providing equal opportunities to all political parties in the assembly while selecting the conveners. He highlighted the critical role of PFGs in fostering coordination and understanding with global parliaments, thereby expanding cooperation across diverse fields.
The newly appointed conveners are tasked with actively contributing to strengthening diplomatic, trade, and economic ties with nations both within the region and globally. These groups have been instrumental in creating favorable conditions for governments to collaborate on mutual interests and develop collective strategies for cooperation and enhancing people-to-people contacts.
Speaker Sadiq directed all conveners of the Parliamentary Friendship Groups to take proactive measures in their new roles to ensure the success of these diplomatic endeavors.
