Islamabad: Speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, met with Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam and Member of the National Assembly, to discuss key political issues including the Iran-Israel tensions and the upcoming federal budget.
During the meeting at the Parliament House, both leaders focused on the overarching political climate, with particular attention to the Iran-Israel conflict. Maulana Rehman expressed concerns over the ongoing war, emphasizing the necessity for unity and peace efforts among the Muslim Ummah. He urged Pakistan to enhance its diplomatic initiatives to foster reconciliation in the region.
Speaker Sadiq highlighted Pakistan’s position, noting its condemnation of Israeli actions and support for Iran. He stressed the importance of a unified political voice to bolster Pakistan’s international diplomatic efforts.
The discussion also covered the Federal Budget for 2025-26, where both leaders agreed on prioritizing development for smaller provinces and economic stability. Speaker Sadiq underscored the active involvement of parliamentary committees in the budget process to incorporate diverse perspectives.
During the meeting, Maulana Rehman congratulated Speaker Sadiq on performing Hajj, while Governor of Balochistan, Mr. Jaffar Khan Mandokhail, attended the session. Both leaders concluded by reaffirming their commitment to democratic principles, national unity, and regional peace initiatives.
