Speaker of the National Assembly Pays Tribute to Iconic Kashmiri Leader Syed Ali Gilani


Islamabad: In a solemn remembrance, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, the Speaker of Pakistan’s National Assembly, paid homage to the late Syed Ali Gilani on his third death anniversary, praising his pivotal role in the Kashmir freedom movement.



According to Kashmir Media Service, Ayaz Sadiq commemorated the enduring legacy and sacrifices of Syed Ali Gilani, whose fearless stance under severe adversities has been inspirational in the struggle for Kashmir’s liberation. Despite enduring prolonged and severe imprisonment in Indian custody, Gilani’s commitment to Kashmir’s freedom remained unwavering throughout his life. The Speaker remarked that Gilani’s contributions to the cause are etched in history with “golden words” and his powerful voice has significantly revitalized the movement.



“Syed Ali Gilani stood firm against Indian oppression and brutality, becoming an unyielding wall against state tyranny,” Sadiq said during the tribute. He echoed Gilani’s famous slogan, “We are Pakistanis, and Pakistan is ours,” noting its profound resonance among the Kashmiri populace.



Sadiq expressed optimism that the sacrifices of martyrs like Gilani would eventually lead to freedom for the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). He reiterated Pakistan’s steadfast support for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination and assured continued political, moral, and diplomatic backing for their cause. The gathering concluded with prayers for Syed Ali Gilani and other martyrs of the Kashmir freedom struggle.
