Islamabad: Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, the Speaker of the National Assembly, has formally congratulated Justice Yahya Afridi on his appointment as the Chief Justice of Pakistan. In his remarks, the Speaker expressed his best wishes and highlighted the significant responsibilities that accompany the prestigious role.
According to National Assembly of Pakistan, “Speaker Sadiq emphasized the importance of a fair and effective judicial system as foundational to a thriving democracy and essential for national progress.” He expressed confidence in Justice Afridi’s abilities to uphold the constitution and strengthen the judiciary in line with Pakistan’s legal statutes.
During his statement, Speaker Sadiq also remarked on the symbolic and functional relationship between the judiciary and the parliament, referring to the latter as “the beacon of hope and the voice of 250 million Pakistanis.” He stressed the constitutional process involved in the Chief Justice’s appointment, noting that it reflects public opinion and serves the national interest.
Sadiq reiterated the imperative for all state institutions to adhere to their constitutional responsibilities, which he described as crucial for the country’s development. He concluded by extending prayers for Justice Afridi’s tenure, voicing his expectation that the new Chief Justice will ensure prompt and impartial justice for all citizens.
