Islamabad: Speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, paid tribute to Major Raja Aziz Bhatti Shaheed, a national hero recognized with the Nishan-e-Haider, emphasizing that his courage and sacrifice during the 1965 War continue to inspire the nation. Sardar Ayaz Sadiq highlighted that Major Aziz Bhatti’s actions in defense of the motherland serve as a lasting example of bravery.
He recounted Major Aziz Bhatti’s steadfast defense in the Burki Sector near Lahore, where he fought for five days and nights, ultimately embracing martyrdom on September 12, 1965. The speaker underscored that the sacrifices made by such martyrs underscore the importance of the country’s honor, dignity, and sovereignty.
Sardar Ayaz Sadiq further stated that the Pakistan Armed Forces have a long history of defending the homeland with the ultimate sacrifice, a fact that fills the nation with pride.
Deputy Speaker Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah also expressed his admiration for Major Aziz Bhatti, acknowledging his role in safeguarding the country until his last breath. He described the martyrs of Pakistan as the nation’s true heroes, whose sacrifices are remembered with respect and gratitude.
