Speaker Ayaz Sadiq Champions Democracy and Rule of Law at 148th IPU Assembly in Geneva

Islamabad, Addressing the 148th Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly in Geneva, Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq emphasized the critical role of democracy, peace, and the rule of law in driving global growth and development. Highlighting Pakistan’s commitment to peaceful dialogue and cooperation, Sadiq advocated for enhanced parliamentary diplomacy through the establishment of Parliamentary Friendship Groups.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Sadiq’s address at the assembly focused on “Parliamentary diplomacy: building bridges for peace and understanding,” where he underscored Pakistan’s position as a proponent of dialogue for fostering understanding among nations. The Speaker elaborated on the significance of bilateral and joint partnerships among parliaments worldwide, suggesting that strengthening parliament-to-parliament contacts could serve as a cornerstone for global peace and cooperation.
