Spain Pledges Diplomatic Support Amid Heightened India-Pakistan Tensions

Madrid: Spain’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, expressed concern over escalating tensions between Pakistan and India during a telephonic conversation with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Ishaq Dar.

Dar briefed Albares on what he described as India’s unprovoked act of aggression, highlighting the violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty and international law. He emphasized the tragic loss of civilian lives and the broader implications for regional peace and strategic stability.

The Deputy Prime Minister also shared insights from a meeting of Pakistan’s National Security Committee, which was convened to evaluate the security situation.

Albares extended his condolences for the civilian casualties and affirmed Spain’s commitment to closely monitoring the situation. He stressed the importance of dialogue, restraint, and diplomacy as means to address the crisis.

Spain has offered its diplomatic services, including potential involvement through multilateral organizations, to foster dialogue between the two nations.
