New Delhi: Sonia Gandhi, chairperson of the Congress Parliamentary Party (CPP), has openly criticized the Modi government’s management of the situation in Jammu and Kashmir, challenging official assertions of stability in the region.
According to Kashmir Media Service, during a CPP meeting, Gandhi highlighted the recent surge in violence in the territory, noting, “There have been 11 attacks in the Jammu region alone, and similar attacks in the Valley as well. This makes a mockery of the claims being made by the Modi Government that all is well in J and K.” Her comments underscore a significant contradiction between the government’s public narrative and the ongoing security issues in the area.
Gandhi also took the opportunity to voice concerns over the situation in Manipur, criticizing the Prime Minister for his absence during the state’s ongoing unrest. She stressed the need for the government to pay more attention to the demands of farmers and the youth, pointing out that the recent budget failed to address their needs adequately.
In her speech, Gandhi further lamented the government’s approach to education, competitive examinations, and the management of autonomous organizations. She praised her party’s MPs for their diligence in bringing these budgetary failures to light and encouraged new members to remain vigilant and dedicated in their legislative responsibilities.
The meeting concluded with the passing of a resolution authorizing Gandhi to appoint party office-bearers and offering condolences to families who have suffered from recent natural disasters and railway accidents.
