Islamabad, Caretaker Federal Minister of Pakistan for Information and Broadcasting, Murtaza Solangi, declared the unyielding determination of Kashmiris in their pursuit for self-determination, emphasizing that no external force could stifle their freedom movement, a sentiment rooted in several resolutions passed by the United Nations.
According to a news release by Kashmir Media Service, Solangi voiced his sentiments while addressing attendees at a rally held in Islamabad. The gathering was organized to mark October 27, recognized as “Black Day,” in protest of India’s 1947 annexation of the then princely state.
Reflecting on the historical context, Solangi mentioned that the Kashmiri people’s experience with oppression is not a recent phenomenon but has been endured over several centuries. He highlighted the significant event of October 27, 1947, when Indian forces entered the valley, a move he termed as being contrary to international laws and the wishes of the Kashmiri populace.
The minister expressed disappointment over the muted response from global advocates of human rights and democracy concerning the Kashmiri plight. He noted that, in the face of escalating repression, the Kashmiri longing for freedom has intensified. Solangi also criticized India for its actions, stating that it not only breached the United Nations Security Council resolutions but also its own constitutional mandates by denying the Kashmiris their right to self-determination.
Concluding his remarks, Minister Solangi emphasized that a just resolution to the Kashmir conflict is pivotal for ensuring lasting global peace.
