Sohbatpur: Deputy Commissioner Farida Tareen, alongside Assistant Commissioner Saifuddin Khosa, conducted a thorough inspection of various drainage systems in Sohbatpur District, focusing on areas weakened by previous floods and directing immediate enhancements to prevent future breaches.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, the inspection tour included critical evaluations of the Hayredin and Ochman Drains, where the officials observed substandard conditions that could potentially lead to further structural damages. Specifically, at Royal Cross Rd. At -116, the cross structure in Hayredin Drain was found to be below the required flow level, prompting officials to request a detailed proposal from the Drainage Division for necessary upgrades.
During their visits, Commissioner Tareen and Commissioner Khosa directed the Drainage Division staff to prioritize the reinforcement of weak sections and to ensure that the ongoing repairs meet the standards required to handle severe weather conditions effectively. They also oversaw the ongoing work at the IR Drain site, where they instructed that the height of the drain be increased to enhance its capacity and facilitate better water flow.
These proactive measures by Sohbatpur’s local government are part of a broader initiative to safeguard the district against the adverse effects of natural disasters, ensuring the safety and well-being of its residents.
