Lucknow, July 27, 2022 (PPI-OT):India ruled by Narendra Modi-led Bharatiya Janata Party is criticized on social media for using different yardsticks for upper caste Hindus and minorities of the country particularly Muslims. According to Kashmir Media Service, social media users shared a latest video on Twitter from Uttar Pradesh state of India, wherein police are seen showering flower petals on Hindu Karwariyas walking on a busy road from a helicopter and said that same police force put Muslims in jail if they offer Namaz on roadside.

In recent past, India witnessed a sudden rise in protest by Hindu right wings against the Muslims offering Friday Namaz in the open. In videos, same UP police can be seen using force to thrash Muslims who offered Namaz on roads in the Indian state. Recently eight street vendors were arrested by the Haridwar police for offering Namaz at a public place. Those arrested were residents of Jwalapur area and they were offering Namaz at a weekly market in Shivalik Nagar.

An Indian social media activist Ashok Swain while sharing the video wrote on Twitter: “Hindu Karwariyas are on the rampage in Haryana, India; and police watching helplessly. They put Muslims in jail when they pray even outside.”

“I live in Gurgaon. Kanwarias are a menace here. They blast loud music at all hours of the day and night (so much so that the doors and windows in the buildings surrounding them vibrate) and hold up traffic. The double standards deployed by the administration will cost India dearly,” another social media user identified himself as Chakra View wrote while sharing another video.

According to reports, the vendors used to sell vegetables in the local market that falls under the Ranipur police station limits. This is height of hypocrisy by India state institutions as well as general masses, wrote one social media activist.

“For same action, there are two different reactions, based on community you belong. If a Muslim confers a religious practice in the open, he is considered as culprit and police will immediately arrest him. But if same is done by Hindus, they are showered with flower petals. Humanity should speak against such double standards in India,” another user said. Other social media users urged the world community to raise its voice against India manifesting such hypocritical practices.
