SMEDA Board Greenlights Revamp Implementation Plan

Lahore: The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) Board of Directors has approved the implementation plan for revamping SMEDA, following its 30th meeting chaired by Haroon Akhtar Khan, the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Industries and Production.

The meeting was attended by key figures including Saif Anjum, Federal Secretary for Industries and Production, and Socrat Aman Rana, CEO of SMEDA, alongside board members. Khan emphasized the Prime Minister’s commitment to elevating Pakistan’s SMEs to international standards with support from global experts.

The board acknowledged the Prime Minister’s initiative of forming a committee to review SMEDA’s current structure and recommend improvements to facilitate SME growth. As part of this initiative, the revamping plan aims to align SMEDA’s existing workforce with new outsourcing activities.

Previously presented to the Prime Minister in April 2025, the revamping plan includes restructuring options approved by both the Prime Minister and SMEDA’s board, positioning SMEDA as a catalyst for SME sector growth in Pakistan.
