Sindh Prioritizes Ongoing Development Projects in 2025-26 Budget

Karachi: Sindh’s Minister for Planning and Development, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, announced that the province’s upcoming 2025-26 budget will prioritize funding for the completion of ongoing development projects. This decision was made public during a high-level meeting at the Sindh Secretariat’s Planning and Development Committee Room, aimed at reviewing proposed developmental schemes from various departments.

The meeting was attended by Chairman of Planning and Development Najam Ahmed Shah, ministers, and secretaries from numerous departments. Among the departments represented were Local Government, Housing and Town Planning, Works and Services, Irrigation, Public Health Engineering, Health, Transport and Mass Transit, School Education and Literacy, Universities and Boards, STEVTA (Sindh Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority), College Education, Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, and the Home Department.

Minister Shah emphasized the importance of aligning the schemes for the 2025-26 budget with the vision of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto and the guidelines set by the Chief Minister of Sindh. He stressed that only new projects deemed extremely necessary and in the larger public interest should be considered for inclusion.

He highlighted the issues caused by incomplete development projects, such as government disrepute, public inconvenience, and traffic disruption. Shah reiterated Chairman Bilawal Bhutto’s strict instructions to prioritize the completion of ongoing and incomplete projects, with funds allocated accordingly.

The meeting also addressed mega projects proposed by different departments, engaging in detailed discussions to assess their feasibility and alignment with the overall development strategy.
