Karachi: The Inspector General of Sindh Police, Ghulam Nabi Memon, announced the initiation of a health insurance policy for police officers and personnel, effective from November 1, 2024. This new policy aims to provide up to 1 million rupees in medical coverage at 200 private hospitals across Pakistan.
According to Sindh Police, the announcement was made during a meeting at the Central Police Office in Karachi, attended by various senior police officials including Additional IGs and DIGs from different divisions. The health insurance funds have been released by the Sindh Government, allowing officers and their families to begin accessing medical services under the new policy immediately.
IG Memon emphasized the importance of the initiative in its first year, urging all officers to ensure its successful implementation. He highlighted the need for meticulous training for welfare officers and robust awareness campaigns among all personnel to fully utilize the health benefits. The policy also includes plans to expedite the verification of family data with NADRA to streamline access to the benefits.
Additionally, coordination between district focal persons of the insurance company and police welfare officers is expected to be strengthened to prevent any delays in medical documentation processes. AIG Welfare Sindh mentioned that a helpline is available around the clock at the Central Welfare Branch to assist officials with the policy details.
