Sindh Police to Enhance Muharram Security in Sukkur and Larkana Divisions

Karachi: The Sindh Police, under the guidance of IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon, have conducted a comprehensive video link meeting with Shia scholars from the Sukkur and Larkana divisions to discuss security arrangements for Muharram 2024. The meeting included prominent Shia leaders and police officials who addressed security protocols and cooperation for the upcoming holy month.

According to Sindh Police, the meeting was attended by various dignitaries including Syed Mehmood Shah from Larkana, Syed Raza Hussain Shah from Qamber, and representatives from other districts. Security briefings were given by DIGs of Sukkur and Larkana, along with SSPs from the respective districts. Discussions also focused on the role of Sindh police in counter-terrorism efforts and crime prevention, with an emphasis on ensuring peace during Muharram.

The participants expressed gratitude for the ongoing support from the police and discussed strategies to enhance safety during the significant religious observances. The police plan includes deploying additional personnel, strategically placing young officers at sensitive locations, and ensuring the presence of trained women officers in the districts. Measures to prevent load shedding during Muharram were also considered, with IG Sindh committing to liaise with local electricity providers.

Moreover, adjustments to the police training schedules have been made to ensure adequate availability of officers for security during Muharram, underscoring the department’s commitment to maintaining order and safeguarding the participants of religious processions.
