Karachi: In a significant move to bolster law enforcement efficiency, the Sindh Police, under the leadership of Inspector General Ghulam Nabi Memon, has initiated comprehensive reforms in the Investigation Department. This announcement was made during a special program organized by the Sindh Investigation Department, which highlighted new strategies and the integration of advanced branches within the force.
According to Sindh Police, the session, attended by Additional IG Karachi Javed Alam Odhu, numerous zonal and investigation officers, introduced several key upgrades, including the establishment of the “Failure Recognition Branch” and the enhancement of the Crime Scene Unit. Effective from October 1, investigation officers have received an additional basic pay, and direct funding mechanisms have been established for higher efficiency in handling investigations.
The reforms include the merging of the investigation department, training branch, and special branch, aimed at streamlining operations and improving service delivery to the public. A significant financial independence was granted to the department, with Rs 28.46 crores now directly accessible to investigation officers at police stations. These measures are expected to substantially improve the capability of the department to deliver justice and control the law and order situation more effectively.
