Sindh Police and National Commission for Child Rights Collaborate to Tackle Child Abuse

Karachi, In an effort to address the growing concerns over child abuse and the exploitation of minors, IG Sindh Rafat Mukhtar Raja announced a collaborative initiative between the Sindh Police and the National Commission for Child Rights. The partnership focuses on the protection of women and children’s rights, with measures including the establishment of special desks at police stations across the province to register and address complaints related to women’s rights and child abuse.

According to Sindh Police, the collaboration was discussed in a meeting with Senator Dr. Ayesha Raza Farooq, Chairperson of the National Commission for Child Rights, at the Central Police Office in Karachi. The meeting, which also saw the participation of DIG Headquarters and AIG Operations Sindh, aimed at enhancing the registration and data arrangement of cases involving sexual abuse, child labor, kidnapping, and other crimes against children.

Senator Dr. Ayesha Raza Farooq highlighted the Commission’s objectives and the steps taken to safeguard children’s rights, emphasizing the role of Sindh Police as a pivotal entity in managing the registration and systematic record-keeping of such cases. IG Rafat Mukhtar Raja pointed out the critical issue of children’s involvement in crimes, attributing it to inadequate parental and societal guidance. He emphasized the deteriorating state of the new generation’s upbringing and mentioned the proactive measures being undertaken by the Sindh Police, including the Zainab Alert app for missing children, to combat these challenges.

The initiative represents a significant step towards reinforcing the safety and rights of children in Sindh, with both the police and the National Commission for Child Rights committed to working closely to prevent sexual abuse and address the multifaceted problems affecting minors.
