Lahore: A delegation of under-training officers from the Provincial Management Service of Sindh visited the Punjab Civil Secretariat on Tuesday as part of the 7th Civil Services Training Program. Their study tour included briefings on the province’s uplift projects, financial discipline, and sectoral reforms, particularly in education and health.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, Chief Secretary Punjab Zahid Akhtar Zaman addressed the visiting officers, outlining the Punjab government’s commitment to meritocracy and transparency in bureaucracy. He emphasized the elimination of recommendations and references in the appointment processes, with a focus on merit-based evaluations and key performance indicators to assess officer performance. The Chief Minister of Punjab, he noted, takes a regular review of these evaluations to ensure accountability.
Zaman further highlighted the Punjab government’s priorities, which include price control, health, education, and cleanliness. He also introduced the Suthra Punjab program, an initiative aimed at enhancing governance and service delivery, particularly in rural areas, through comprehensive reforms across various sectors.
The visiting delegation expressed admiration for Punjab’s governance initiatives, considering them exemplary models for fostering progress and prosperity in the region. Their tour also included visits to historical and administrative sites within the Secretariat, such as the Anarkali tomb and the archive museum, providing them with a broader perspective on the cultural and administrative heritage of Punjab.
