Sindh Livestock Department Initiates Reforms to Boost Exports

Karachi: The Advisor to the Chief Minister of Sindh on Livestock and Fisheries, Syed Najmi Alam, announced the initiation of reform efforts within the Livestock Department aimed at enhancing the region’s milk, meat, and livestock exports. The reforms seek to engage local communities, exporters, and producers to leverage facilities offered by the department for boosting foreign exchange earnings.

According to Chief Minister Sindh, during a high-level meeting in his office on Thursday, Syed Najmi Alam emphasized the department’s commitment to providing financial benefits to cattle owners by expanding export opportunities. The meeting included briefings on animal exports by Karachi exporter Fahad Qayyum and discussions with senior officials such as Secretary Livestock and Fisheries Dr. Kazim Hussain Jatoi, and Director General Livestock Sindh Hizbullah Bhutto.

The advisor underscored the potential benefits to domestic exporters and stated the government’s readiness to support them fully. The meeting also resolved to invite all stakeholders to the next meeting to formulate a collaborative mechanism for the business, signaling a proactive approach to addressing the needs of the livestock sector and enhancing its contribution to the economy.
