Sindh Launches Livestock Reforms and New Development Projects

Karachi: Syed Najmi Alam, Adviser to the Chief Minister of Sindh for Livestock, Fisheries, and Human Settlement Authority, recently chaired a meeting to discuss the latest initiatives and upcoming projects in the Livestock Department of Sindh. Attendees included Provincial Secretary of Livestock and Fisheries Dr. Kazim Hussain Jatoi, Director General of Livestock Dr. Hizbullah Bhutto, and other key department officials.

According to Chief Minister Sindh, the meeting focused on introducing significant reforms such as the establishment of a Grievance Redressal Mechanism (GRM) in the department. This new cell aims to address and resolve the grievances of cattle owners promptly. Additionally, the province plans to achieve an FMD (Foot and Mouth Disease) vaccine coverage target of 70 to 80 percent. Notably, Umarkot and Tharparkar districts are designated to become FMD-free, enhancing the quality of local dairy and meat products, and boosting the export potential.

The meeting also highlighted new educational initiatives, including a three-year diploma course at the Artificial Insemination Training Center in Tondojam. This program is expected to contribute significantly to reducing youth unemployment in the region by equipping young individuals with essential skills in animal breeding.

Expressing his approval of the progress, Syed Najmi Alam emphasized that these efforts are aligned with the leadership’s directive to improve the livelihood of Sindh’s poorer communities by delivering essential services directly to their doorsteps. The initiatives are part of a broader push to modernize the agricultural sector and enhance its contribution to the regional economy.
