Sindh Governor Visits Churches, Advocates for Increased Quota for Christian Community

Karachi, Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tesori made a significant visit to St. Andrews Church and Holy Trinity Cathedral in Karachi. During this visit, which coincided with Christmas celebrations, the Governor participated in festive activities, including cutting a Christmas cake, and extended his congratulations to the Christian community in Pakistan and around the world.

According to Sindh Governor House, Governor Tesori used this occasion to announce his initiative to advocate for an increased quota for the Christian community in Pakistan. He mentioned that he is preparing a letter to the federation, proposing to raise the quota system for Christians by 5 to 10 percent. This move aims to enhance representation and opportunities for the Christian community in various sectors.

Governor Tesori also emphasized the open-door policy of the Governor’s House, suggesting a welcoming and inclusive approach towards all communities. He highlighted the significance of Christmas as a time to spread messages of peace, prosperity, brotherhood, and respect, noting the symbolic importance of Jesus Christ in these values. He acknowledged the teachings of Jesus, particularly focusing on tolerance, love, and compassion.

The Governor remarked on the vibrant celebration of Christmas by millions of Christians in Pakistan and recognized the solidarity shown by other religious communities in the country. He stressed the importance of community participation in promoting harmony and love among all faiths, highlighting the inclusive spirit of the Christmas celebrations.
