Islamabad, The Senate Committee on Rules of Procedure and Privileges, chaired by Senator Muhammad Tahir Bizinjo, convened today at Parliament House to discuss several key issues, including a privilege motion against the Secretary of the Ministry of Interior.
According to Senate of Pakistan, Senator Bahramand Khan Tangi raised a privilege motion against the Secretary for refusing to issue an arms license to him, contrary to the government’s policy of providing licenses to parliamentarians. Tangi argued that this refusal represented a breach of privilege for himself and other parliamentarians. In response, the Ministry explained that Tangi had been approved for an arms license but did not complete the necessary procedures within the given timeframe. Despite the recent ban on PB licenses, the committee urged for a quick resolution and suggested exempting parliamentarians from this ban.
The meeting also touched on other matters, including a privilege motion against the Director-General of the Civil Aviation Authority and recruitment irregularities in PSQCA. These issues were deferred due to the absence of the movers. The session was attended by several senators and representatives of attached departments.
