Karachi: At the International Inter-Religious Peace Conference held on August 16 at the Governor House, Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tesuri emphasized the crucial role of inter-religious and interfaith harmony in addressing the country’s current challenges. The conference, titled “Respect for humanity, inter-faith harmony, violence-free society and promotion of the message of Pakistan,” drew leaders from various religious communities to discuss ways to foster unity and peace.
According to Sindh Governor House, Governor Tesuri highlighted the full religious freedom enjoyed by followers of all faiths in Pakistan, despite the societal challenges and intolerance that persist. He called for concerted efforts to change general social attitudes and promote a more tolerant society.
The event featured discussions led by prominent figures, including Maulana Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabeer Azad, Chairman of the Central Rujit Hilal Committee, and representatives from multiple religious communities such as Dr. Leif Athlin, Mufti Muhammad Nauman Naeem, Bishop Joseph Goodes, and many others. These leaders collectively addressed the need for an inclusive approach to fostering peace and understanding among different faith groups.
Governor Tesuri commended the organizers for their successful conduct of the conference, underscoring that such gatherings are vital for advancing the dialogue on peace and tolerance. The conference not only served as a platform for discussing critical issues but also as a beacon of hope for achieving a violence-free society through the collective efforts of all religious communities.
