Karachi, 16 Oct 2023: On the 72nd death anniversary of Pakistan’s first Prime Minister, Khan Liaquat Ali Khan, Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tesori paid tribute, recalling the significant contributions and sacrifices made by Khan during his short tenure. Khan Liaquat Ali Khan, who served only four years post-independence, was tragically martyred on October 16, 1951, a day Governor Tesori described as one of the “darkest days in the history of Pakistan.”
In his commemorative message, Governor Tesori highlighted the close collaboration between Khan Liaquat Ali Khan and the father of the nation, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. As a trusted confidante of the Quaid-e-Azam, Khan was personally chosen by Jinnah to serve as the country’s first prime minister. Even after Jinnah’s passing, Khan pursued their shared vision for the newly independent nation.
Governor Tesori emphasized Khan’s unwavering dedication to Pakistan, noting that even in his final moments, Khan’s primary concern was the security of the nation. His integrity was evident in his personal choices, including his decision not to stake a claim on properties left in India, despite hailing from a Nawab family. Furthermore, he left no personal assets despite his prestigious position as Prime Minister.
Governor Tesori underscored the importance of educating the younger generation about the unparalleled service of Khan Liaquat Ali Khan, calling his life an illuminating beacon for the entire nation.
