Karachi: During a commemorative event for legendary singer Mehdi Hassan, Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tesori praised the efforts of Faisal Nadeem, author of a book on the singer, and highlighted the role of the Pakistan American Cultural Center (PACC) in fostering Pakistan-U.S. relations. The event, held by PACC, celebrated the “Shenshah-e Ghazal” for his vast contributions to music and culture.
According to Sindh Governor House, Governor Tesori recognized Mehdi Hassan’s significant international achievements, including the Medal of Distinction and Pride of Performance, underscoring his status as a teacher and a custodian of Pakistan’s rich musical heritage. Tesori expressed how Hassan’s music, embodying a range of emotions and experiences, continues to resonate widely, notably through his son Kamran Mehdi Hassan’s performances.
The event, attended by dignitaries such as PACC President Syed Makhdoom Ali Riaz and Muttahida Qaumi Movement senior leader Dr. Farooq Sattar, also included Governor Tesori’s affirmation of Karachi’s potential for progress and beauty, committing to ongoing efforts to enhance the city’s stature.
