Sindh Governor Approves $440 Million Agreement with Asian Development Bank for Flood Victim Housing

Karachi: In a significant development, Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tesori has authorized two senior government officers to sign a contract with the Asian Development Bank (ADB), aimed at funding the construction of houses for flood victims in the region. This agreement is expected to bring about $440 million into the project, providing substantial financial support for rebuilding efforts.

According to Sindh Governor House, Governor Tesori’s approval came through a signed summary that empowers the designated senior officers to execute Memorandums of Understanding with the ADB. The initiative is a part of broader efforts to facilitate recovery and improve living conditions for those impacted.

Governor Tesori, during the signing, expressed optimism about the positive impact of the funding. He stated that the construction of these new houses will enable flood victims to resume normal, prosperous lives in their own homes soon. This financial influx from the ADB is seen as crucial in accelerating the reconstruction process and helping the region bounce back from the devastation caused by the floods.

This agreement not only underscores the collaborative efforts between the Sindh government and international financial institutions like the ADB but also highlights the ongoing commitment to address the urgent needs arising from natural disasters in the area.
