Sindh Governor Announces Rice Export Milestone and Initiatives at Awards Ceremony


Karachi: Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tesori announced that rice exports have reached a new milestone of 4 billion dollars in the current financial year, marking a significant achievement. This announcement was made during the Export Awards ceremony hosted by the Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan (REAP) at the Governor House.



According to Sindh Governor House, the event was well-attended by key figures including REAP Chairman Chela Ram Keolani, Export Recognition Committee Convenor Abdul Rahim, Senior Vice Chairman Haseeb Ali Khan, and Vice Chairman Habibur Rehman, among others. Governor Tesori highlighted the crucial role of the association in achieving this economic milestone and applauded its 25 years of service to the industry. He praised the annual export awards as a commendable effort to motivate rice exporters.



In his address, Governor Tesori also revealed plans to discuss with the Prime Minister the possibility of granting industry status to the Ministry of Commerce to aid in resolving association issues. Additionally, he announced the establishment of a special cell within the Governor’s House to expedite the resolution of such matters. The Governor expressed his intention to recommend the Star of Imtiaz for Abdul Rahim Janu in recognition of his contributions to the sector. The ceremony concluded with the distribution of awards for outstanding performance in the rice export sector.
