Sindh Governor Announces Emergency Measures and Ration Distribution for Flood Victims in Karachi


Karachi: In response to the escalating crisis caused by recent floods, Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tesori announced the dispatch of 10,000 ration bags to the flood-affected regions of Sukkur and the establishment of an Emergency Cell at the Governor’s House to aid those in distress. These measures were detailed during a press conference held at the Governor’s House as part of the broader effort to mitigate the impact of severe weather across the province.



According to Sindh Governor House, Governor Tesori addressed the ongoing crisis during the press conference, revealing that the ration distribution and the emergency response mechanism aim to provide immediate relief to the victims. He urged those affected by the floods to contact the newly established emergency hotline, 1366, for assistance. The governor also discussed potential further actions, stating that if the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) is unable to control the situation, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) would intervene.



Further elaborating on the community’s response to recent events, Governor Tesori expressed gratitude towards the citizens of Karachi for their massive turnout at the Independence Day celebrations, highlighting their enthusiasm and unity in face of the challenges posed by the floods. He praised the civic spirit displayed during the celebrations and the collective effort to support the flood relief initiatives.



The governor also addressed several queries regarding urban management and disaster response, emphasizing the coordinated efforts required from all stakeholders, including NGOs and local businesses, to support the affected communities effectively.
