Sindh Governor and Chinese Consul General Discuss Bilateral Relations and Educational Initiatives

Karachi, In a notable diplomatic engagement, Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tesuri met with the Chinese Consul General Yang Yunding at the Governor House on Monday to discuss bilateral relations and collaborative projects under the Sindh Infrastructure Finance Company (SIFC). The discussions highlighted shared interests and the commitment to strengthening ties between the two regions.

According to Sindh Governor House, the meeting addressed several key topics including the continuation and expansion of Chinese investments in Pakistan, particularly in technology and education sectors. A significant outcome of the talks was the agreement to launch free Chinese language courses for IT students in Sindh, reflecting a deepening of cultural and educational ties.

Governor Tesuri praised the longstanding Pakistan-China friendship and acknowledged China’s pivotal role in Pakistan’s economic development, especially through initiatives like the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which he noted would usher in a new era of prosperity for the region. He emphasized that such collaborations are instrumental in combating poverty and unemployment in Sindh.

Additionally, the Governor announced that the Chinese language courses would soon commence at the Governor House itself, initially reaching 50,000 students directly, with an additional 450,000 students expected to benefit from online classes. This educational program aims to equip young Pakistanis with essential language skills to better engage with China’s growing economic and cultural presence in the region.

The meeting also included a tour of the IT marquee and the Hope Bell, a local initiative aimed at fostering community welfare. Consul General Yang, impressed by the educational facilities and welfare initiatives, commended Governor Tesuri’s efforts in enhancing the educational landscape in Sindh.

This meeting underscores the multifaceted partnership between Sindh and China, focusing not only on economic development but also on enhancing mutual understanding and cooperation through education and cultural exchange.
