Karachi: Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tesori emphasized the indispensable role of journalism in the survival and security of democracy during a meeting with officials from the Karachi Press Club on Thursday. The discussion highlighted the governor’s commitment to addressing the challenges faced by journalists and underscored the importance of journalism as the “eye of society” and a foundational pillar of democracy.
According to Sindh Governor House, the meeting included key figures such as President Saeed Sarbazi, Secretary Shoaib Ahmed, Joint Secretary Muhammad Munsif, and other members of the governing body. Governor Tesori reiterated his dedication to the welfare of the journalist community and pledged to prioritize solving their issues. He outlined plans to discuss the housing scheme for journalists and federal funding with relevant authorities to ensure better support for the media professionals.
Governor Tesori also acknowledged the evolution of journalism in modern times, noting its significant influence on public opinion and its role as a testament to the success of a functioning democracy. He highlighted journalism’s historical impact as a powerful and inspiring entity.
The meeting concluded with a tour of several welfare initiatives at the press club, including Omid Ki Ghanti, Ration Bags, and IT Marquee, where President Sarbazi lauded the governor’s efforts and acknowledged their importance to societal welfare. He expressed gratitude for Governor Tesori’s focused attention on the journalist community’s concerns.
