Karachi: Provincial Energy Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah inaugurated the first showroom of ENVEREX EV electric cars, marking a significant step in the Sindh government’s commitment to eco-friendly initiatives. The event, attended by ENVEREX Industries CEO Muhammad Zakir Ali and Director Abdul Rehman, saw the minister cutting the ribbon and inspecting the electric vehicles on display.
The launch included a detailed briefing on the vehicles and the company’s after-sales services, with an emphasis on the availability of home installation for EV charging ports. This move aligns with the Sindh government’s strategy to foster local production and use of electric vehicles.
In remarks to the media, Minister Shah highlighted the economic advantage of electric vehicles, noting that the cost per kilometer for these cars is just four rupees. He reiterated the government’s support for the local production of electric vehicles and underscored the strategic vision of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, which focuses on promoting eco-friendly energy projects.
To facilitate the adoption of electric vehicles, the government plans to utilize public land for the establishment of charging stations. New buildings in Sindh are now required to include EV charging facilities. Additionally, charging stations will be set up in major cities and at intervals of 30 to 40 kilometers on highways.
The provincial minister also announced the allocation of special funds for environmentally friendly projects, as directed by Chairman Zardari. The government is determined to support investors in eco-friendly industries, offering tax exemptions to boost local manufacturing.
The event culminated in a cake-cutting ceremony, with Minister Shah receiving traditional Sindhi gifts, an Ajrak and Topi, symbolizing the cultural significance of the occasion.
