Sindh Government Prioritizes Development and Energy Initiatives, Emphasizes Collaboration with SIFC


Karachi, In a detailed address at the Sindh Assembly, Provincial Minister of Energy and Development and Planning, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, underscored the role of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) in driving institutional improvements and ensuring stability within the region. He assured that the Sindh government retains final authority over decisions concerning the SIFC, which collaborates closely with the government to enhance the efficacy of various institutions.



According to Directorate General Information and PRs – Sindh, Minister Shah clarified that the SIFC operates under the guidance and with the consent of the Sindh government, dispelling rumors and concerns about the institution’s autonomy and intent. He highlighted the Sindh government’s commitment to completing 5,700 ongoing development schemes by 2024, which have been prioritized in the upcoming budget to benefit the public significantly.



In addition to local developments, Shah addressed international concerns, noting that the Sindh government is coordinating efforts to safely repatriate students from Kyrgyzstan, with special flights funded by the regional government. He also touched on the ambitious energy projects underway, including the provision of 100 units of free electricity to Sindh residents as a first step towards broader energy relief, and the push for expanding solar energy usage without imposing burdensome taxes.



The session also reflected broader political dynamics, with PPP Punjab General Secretary Hasan Murtaza criticizing a controversial bill in Punjab and expressing solidarity with journalistic and agricultural protests. The address was part of a broader exposition of the PPP’s regional and national policy objectives and ongoing projects aimed at public welfare and energy sustainability.
