Sindh Government Partners with World Bank to Solarize Public Buildings


Karachi, The Sindh government has embarked on an ambitious initiative in partnership with the World Bank to implement solar energy solutions across public sector buildings. This comprehensive program aims to enhance energy efficiency and sustainability by harnessing solar power for governmental facilities.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the collaboration was highlighted during a meeting between Sindh Energy Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah and the World Bank Technical Mission in Karachi. The first phase of the solarization project involves installing solar panels to generate 21.7 megawatts of electricity, which will power 34 public sector buildings.



Minister Shah emphasized the rigorous daily monitoring of the project’s progress to ensure timely execution. The World Bank Technical Mission has expressed satisfaction with the pace of the solar energy project and reaffirmed its full support for the initiative. This project not only reflects a significant step towards sustainable development but also showcases the potential for public-private partnerships to address critical infrastructure needs.
