Sindh Government Launches “Sasti Basti” Housing Initiative for Impoverished Residents

Karachi: In a significant move aimed at alleviating housing issues for the underprivileged, the Sindh government has unveiled a new project titled “Sasti Basti.” This initiative seeks to provide affordable housing options to the poor populations within the province. The announcement was made by Najmi Alam, the Advisor to the Chief Minister for Human Settlement Authority, Livestock and Fisheries, during the 29th Governing Body meeting of the Human Settlement Authority’s annual budget.

According to Chief Minister Sindh, the meeting was chaired by Najmi Alam who discussed various agenda items including the approval of the annual budget and the previous meeting’s minutes. The session was well-attended by prominent figures such as MPA Muhammad Yusuf Baloch, MPA Aruba Rabbani, Hyderabad Mayor Kashif Shoro, Sukkur Mayor Barrister Arslan Sheikh, as well as Shariq Ahmed, the Secretary and Director General of Human Settlements. The Chief Engineer Kashif Khan and Regional Director Bilal Sheikh were also present.

During the meeting, Najmi Alam highlighted the government’s commitment to addressing the housing crisis affecting the poorest sectors of Sindh. The “Sasti Basti” project, he noted, will not only focus on providing housing but also on clearing encroachments in the slums, with the recruitment of demolition squads approved to facilitate this process. Alam emphasized that this project aligns with the vision of the party chairman, Bilawal Bhutto, aiming to offer tangible relief to needy families across the province.
