Karachi: In a significant move to enhance public health and safety, Sindh Energy Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah announced that the provincial government is prioritizing rabies control and vaccination initiatives. Speaking at an awareness event at Jinnah Hospital in Karachi, Shah highlighted the establishment of six rabies control centers in Karachi and similar facilities across all divisions of Sindh under the CLICK initiative.
He emphasized that the vaccination of stray dogs is crucial to managing rabies effectively, noting that while some oppose the culling of stray animals, vaccination offers a sustainable solution. Shah lauded Jinnah Hospital’s efforts in saving countless lives and encouraged the public to seek timely treatment, dispelling fears associated with the disease.
Despite the positive strides, Shah expressed concern over negative propaganda that often accompanies new health programs. He credited Ms. Aseefa Bhutto for her pivotal role in initiating the rabies vaccination program and announced an upcoming Pink Bike Service aimed at empowering women, ensuring accessibility for all, especially for women in the region.
