Karachi, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, the Provincial Minister for Energy, Planning and Development, announced that the government of Sindh is initiating a project to provide solar panels to remote, electricity-deprived areas in the province.
According to Directorate General Information and PRs – Sindh, Minister Shah emphasized that around five lakh households in rural, hilly, and desert regions lack access to any form of electricity. The initiative, aligning with the vision of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, aims to address this gap through the deployment of solar panels. In addition to these efforts, plans are underway to establish solar parks across Sindh, including a significant installation near Karachi that would contribute 50 MW of electricity to K-Electric, aiding in enhanced service delivery to consumers.
The minister detailed additional developments, such as generating electricity from waste, and outlined the broader energy strategy within the upcoming budget, guided by the PPP’s manifesto. This strategy includes the solarization process that promises to deliver 300 units of free electricity to households.
The briefing also touched on law enforcement improvements and safety measures in Sindh, referencing specific actions taken against criminal activities in Kacha and proactive steps by the Sindh police to secure the region. The efforts are part of a broader government initiative to ensure public safety and implement development projects reflecting the party’s governance philosophy.
