Sindh Declares Public Holiday for Urs of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai

Karachi: The Government of Sindh has declared a public holiday on 20th August 2024 for the Urs of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai, a revered Sufi saint. The holiday applies to all workers throughout the province, acknowledging the cultural and spiritual significance of the event.

According to Employers’ Federation of Pakistan, the notification issued by the Sindh Labour and Human Resources Department specifies the observance of the holiday under the Sindh Public Holidays Act, 2016. The decision reflects the government’s commitment to honor the legacy of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai, whose poetry and philosophy are deeply ingrained in Sindhi culture and traditions. The announcement aims to facilitate workers in the province to participate in the commemorations dedicated to the Sufi saint, ensuring that the cultural heritage is celebrated across all sectors.
