Sindh Cm Invokes Bhutto Legacy, Sufi Ideals At Shah Latif Urs

Islamabad: Bhit Shah (Matiari Aug 11): Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, speaking at the Shah Latif Award ceremony in Bhit Shah, connected the Bhutto family’s history with the Sufi traditions and the Sindh administration’s dedication to education. The event was part of the Urs celebrations for the Sufi mystic Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai, with PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari as the primary attendee.

Mr. Shah acknowledged Mr. Bhutto Zardari’s participation, underscoring the Bhutto family’s long-standing association with Bhit Shah. He mentioned Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto establishing the cultural hub 64 years ago and Benazir Bhutto’s profound admiration for Bhittai’s philosophy.

Quoting Benazir Bhutto’s address at the Urs 31 years earlier, the CM reiterated her belief in the inseparable link between Sindh and Bhittai. He emphasized the continuing importance of her focus on youth development and diligence. He also recalled her initiative to disseminate Bhittai’s poetry by personally funding the printing and distribution of the Ganj Sharif to universities.

Echoing Benazir Bhutto’s firm opposition to aggression, Mr. Shah declared that any advocacy of brutality would face decisive action. He presented this stance as a continuation of her dedication to harmony and Bhittai’s message of inclusivity.

The CM further highlighted the Bhutto family’s focus on superior schooling, noting Asif Ali Zardari’s realization of Benazir Bhutto’s aspiration by founding the Sufi University. He pledged the Sindh administration’s continued promotion of Sufism under Mr. Bhutto Zardari’s guidance.

In closing, Mr. Shah connected the Independence Day festivities with the spirit of the Urs, referencing Pakistan’s triumph over India and the “Ma’raka-e-Haq” (Battle of Truth) theme, imbuing the Urs with national pride and a sense of historical victory.
