Karachi, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, along with a delegation of provincial ministers, conducted an emergency visit to the Burns Ward at Civil Hospital following a devastating cylinder blast in Hyderabad. The visit aimed at assessing the situation and ensuring optimal care for the injured.
According to Chief Minister Sindh, the visit included Provincial Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, Interior Minister Zia Lanjar, and Energy Minister Nasir Shah. Dr. Ezra Pechuho, Health Minister, also joined upon the Chief Minister’s instructions and briefed him on the casualties. Initially, 19 patients, including 9 children, 7 men, and one woman, were admitted with injuries sustained from the explosion, with two reported fatalities. An additional 12 patients were being transferred from Hyderabad to Karachi for treatment.
During his visit, Chief Minister Shah inspected the facilities and the ongoing treatment, ensuring that all resources were utilized to provide the best possible care. He specifically directed Health Minister Dr. Pechuho to oversee the treatment at Patel Hospital, where some of the critically injured were taken.
The tragedy occurred when a gas cylinder exploded in a shop beneath a residential building, leading to further blasts and a significant fire, injuring a total of 51 people. The Chief Minister highlighted the need for stringent enforcement of safety regulations to prevent such incidents, despite the existing laws. He also discussed the broader issues of gas supply and safety with the Chief Secretary, emphasizing the need for immediate action in the face of recurring cylinder-related incidents.
