KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah presided over a high-level meeting at the CM House on Thursday to review preparations for Muharram-ul-Haram. Stressing the importance of sectarian harmony and interfaith unity, Mr. Shah called for comprehensive arrangements across the province.
The meeting was attended by key provincial ministers, city officials, and representatives from essential service sectors such as K-Electric and the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board. Prominent religious leaders from diverse schools of thought were also present to offer their input.
Chief Minister Shah expressed appreciation for the religious leaders’ efforts in promoting peace and harmony, particularly during Muharram. He highlighted the month’s significance as a time for sacrifice, patience, and unity, urging respect for diverse beliefs to maintain societal peace.
During the meeting, Mr. Shah invited suggestions from the Ulema to ensure smooth arrangements during the sacred month. He acted on their recommendations, issuing directives for essential services in Karachi and other cities including Hyderabad, Sukkur, and Larkana.
Local authorities were directed to maintain cleanliness around religious sites and procession routes. K-Electric and other power companies were instructed to provide uninterrupted electricity during religious gatherings.
“No effort should be spared in ensuring the availability of water, electricity, and other essential facilities,” Mr. Shah emphasized, underscoring the government’s commitment to facilitating religious observances.
