Sindh Chief Minister Honors Journalists on World Press Freedom Day


KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah paid tribute to journalists on World Press Freedom Day, acknowledging their sacrifices in the pursuit of truth and labeling them as heroes of press freedom.



Mr. Shah praised the bravery of Palestinian journalists affected by Israeli actions, highlighting that assaults on journalists represent a grave threat to global democracy. He affirmed that freedom of expression is a constitutional right in Pakistan and urged journalists to refrain from spreading rumours for sensationalism or ratings.



The Chief Minister emphasized that the Sindh government has ensured complete freedom for journalists, noting that no adverse actions have been taken against journalists by the provincial government.



Addressing recent controversies regarding canals, Mr. Shah mentioned that several false reports have been circulated against the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and the Sindh government.



He encouraged journalists to focus on positive developments, particularly in enhancing Karachi’s image, and asserted that journalists in Sindh enjoy greater protection and freedom compared to other regions in the country.
