KARACHI: On Independence Day, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah visited the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. He was welcomed by Cabinet members, advisors, special assistants, the Chief Secretary, and the Inspector General of Police, according to the Chief Minister’s spokesperson.
In a gesture of national pride, the Chief Minister, alongside the Sindh Governor, hoisted the national flag. He then laid a floral wreath at the Mazar, offered fateha, and recorded his thoughts in the visitors’ book, paying homage to Pakistan’s founding leader.
During the visit, Shah interacted with schoolchildren and the public at the mausoleum. An Independence Day ceremony featured the recitation of the Holy Quran and national songs performed by schoolchildren.
The event drew a wide audience, including diplomats, civil society members, and many students. The children greeted the Chief Minister with cheers, contributing to a lively atmosphere.
Following a guard of honor, the Chief Minister concluded his visit.
In his Independence Day message, Shah emphasized August 14 as a time to renew commitment to national progress and unity. He cited the teachings of Quaid-e-Azam as a guiding force, advocating the principle of “Work, work and only work.”
The Chief Minister highlighted Sindh’s role in promoting unity, harmony, and tolerance, rooted in its ancient civilization and heritage. He praised the values of brotherhood, democracy, and constitutional supremacy upheld by the people of Sindh.
Shah paid tribute to the martyrs, acknowledging their sacrifices as a source of national pride and inspiration. He urged citizens to stand against terrorism, poverty, and ignorance, stressing unity for the country’s development.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to basic facilities, focusing on education, health, employment, and agriculture. “Ensuring equal opportunities for every citizen is our mission,” he stated, emphasizing efforts to make Pakistan modern and prosperous.
Extending Independence Day greetings, Shah prayed for Pakistan’s safety and progress. “May Allah Almighty protect and bless Pakistan,” he concluded.
