Sindh Chief Minister Calls for Collective Action on International Plastic Free Day

Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah marked International Plastic Free Day with a call to action against plastic pollution, highlighting its significant threat to the environment, rivers, marine life, and urban infrastructure.

In a statement released from the CM House, Shah emphasized the importance of eliminating plastic as a shared responsibility. He urged the public to stop using plastic to improve urban environments.

Shah noted that creating a plastic-free environment is crucial for a better future. He pointed out various measures implemented by the Sindh government to address plastic pollution.

According to Shah, since August 2024, government offices have been prohibited from using plastic bottles, replacing them with glass jugs. Additionally, in April 2025, a complete ban on the manufacturing, sale, and use of plastic bags was enforced across Sindh.

The chief minister encouraged the public to choose environmentally friendly alternatives, such as cloth and paper products, to foster a cleaner and greener Sindh.

Shah emphasized that these initiatives are vital not only for environmental protection but also for ensuring a healthier life for future generations.
