Sindh Chief Minister Announces Major Upgrades and AI Integration at JPMC

Karachi, In a significant development for healthcare in Sindh, Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah outlined substantial upgrades and the integration of advanced artificial intelligence technologies at Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Center (JPMC), aiming to transform it into the largest healthcare facility in Asia.

According to Chief Minister Sindh, during his address at the second Post Graduate Research Conference at JPMC, the bed capacity and budget of JPMC, along with NICVD and NICH, have significantly increased since their transfer from federal to provincial governance in 2011. These institutions now prepare to expand further, with a planned increase in bed capacity and budget allocation to support advanced medical technologies like cyber knife tomotherapy, which are provided free of charge.

The Chief Minister revealed plans to install PACS and AI technologies used in leading institutions like Johns Hopkins Hospital and Harvard Medical School’s Mass General Hospital, emphasizing the potential for JPMC to pioneer AI-enhanced healthcare in Pakistan. This initiative is expected to improve patient care, facilitate research, and allow the development of local medical protocols using AI, potentially setting a new standard in medical practices in the region.
