Karachi: Emphasizing the critical role of technology in the modern economy, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has urged the region’s youth to embrace information technology, e-commerce, and artificial intelligence to enhance self-reliance and employability. This call to action was made during a signing ceremony for a significant educational initiative providing Google Career Certificate scholarships to 1,000 students across ten government universities in Sindh.
According to Chief Minister Sindh, the memorandum of understanding, which involves a partnership between the government universities, boards, and Tech Valley, aims to equip students with cutting-edge skills in e-commerce, artificial intelligence, animation, and web designing. These skills are intended to make them competitive in the global market and foster local technological development.
The initiative not only targets educational advancement but also includes the provision of Google Chromebooks across educational institutions in Sindh, enhancing the learning experience through modern technology. These devices are praised for their user-friendly features, such as lightweight design and long battery life, which facilitate both teaching and learning.
Chief Minister Shah highlighted the performance improvements seen in students who utilized the locally developed Mokal app by Google Technologies, noting a significant increase in student performance metrics. The agreement signed also prioritizes gender inclusivity, reserving fifty percent of the scholarships for female students, reinforcing the government’s commitment to empowering all segments of society.
The universities involved in this MoU include NED University of Science and Technology, Dawood University of Engineering and Technology, and several others across the province, promising widespread impact. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to integrate modern educational tools and certifications into Sindh’s academic institutions, preparing the youth for the demands of the digital age.
Chief Minister Shah concluded by stressing the importance of such programs for the socio-economic development of the province and preparing Sindh’s youth to meet the challenges of the digital world effectively.
