Sukkur: In a series of discussions and briefings, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah clarified his stance on the political tensions surrounding Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI), emphasizing that the decision to ban the party falls to the federal government and judiciary, not the provincial leadership. His comments came during a media talk in Goth Khairpur following a condolence visit for Nazir Dhokhi, a media coordinator for PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
According to Chief Minister Sindh, while addressing the media alongside former Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah and other notable political figures, Murad Ali Shah reiterated that the PPP had not been consulted about the PTI ban. He stressed that the PPP does not support banning any political party and attributed the responsibility for the current political predicaments facing PTI to its own actions.
In addition to political discussions, the Chief Minister’s engagements included extensive security briefings for the upcoming Muharram processions. In Sukkur, security preparations are comprehensive, with significant police deployments planned for major processions expected to draw tens of thousands of mourners. The Chief Minister reviewed the security setups, including the establishment of control rooms and deployment strategies, to ensure peaceful observances across the district.
The Chief Minister’s schedule also included visits to Rohri and Jacobabad, where he inspected arrangements for the historically significant Muharram processions and discussed broader security concerns with local law enforcement authorities. In Jacobabad, heightened security measures are being implemented due to the district’s vulnerability, including its proximity to Balochistan and past incidents of violence.
