Karachi: The Sindh Cabinet, in a comprehensive meeting chaired by Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, has decreed multiple significant resolutions, including the protection of the entire Karunjahr area as a cultural and heritage site and the advancement of various infrastructure projects across the province.
According to Chief Minister Sindh, the meeting addressed an array of pivotal issues such as environmental protection, public health, and regional development. The Karunjahr area is now designated as a forest and wildlife sanctuary/Ramsar site, while nearby Kasar has been approved for granite quarrying, pending environmental clearances. In other discussions, the cabinet sanctioned a Rs 3.84 billion grant for medical equipment at Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Center and enforced amendments to the Provincial Motor Vehicle Ordinance to mitigate the misuse of unregistered vehicles.
Furthermore, the cabinet has committed to significant infrastructural projects to combat flood risks, including the construction of two bridges to facilitate water flow from Manchhar Lake to the Indus River. This initiative follows the destructive floods of 2022, highlighting the need for improved water management infrastructure.
The session also marked the approval of substantial educational and agricultural developments, with grants aimed at establishing new campuses and enhancing agricultural training. Moreover, a notable decision was the export of 45,000 metric tons of sugar as part of a national allocation, reflecting Sindh’s role in national agricultural outputs.
