Sindh Cabinet Approves Premium Vehicle Number Plates and Extends Rangers’ Deployment

Karachi, In a comprehensive session chaired by Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, the Sindh Cabinet approved several key initiatives including the introduction of Premium Number Plates for vehicles, the allocation of substantial funds for medical equipment, and the extension of the Rangers’ deployment in Karachi.

According to Chief Minister Sindh, the introduction of Premium Number Plates is expected to generate significant revenue, potentially reaching between Rs2 to Rs3 billion annually. This initiative follows models from cities like Dubai, offering Platinum, Gold, and Silver categories with various customization options. The meeting also greenlighted a Rs1.5 billion allocation for an MRI system at the Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation in Sukkur and extended the Rangers’ law enforcement mandate in Karachi until December 2024 to bolster security.

The session further discussed infrastructural developments, including the funding of emergent works on the Suprio Bund and the continuation of the Malir Expressway project, which faced complications due to urban encroachment. Additionally, financial provisions were made for retired civil servants with the release of Rs.10.189 billion in withheld funds.

The cabinet also approved key appointments and the construction of an interchange to improve road connectivity. These decisions are part of a broader strategy to enhance public services and infrastructure in the province.
