Sindh Cabinet Approves New Healthcare and Police Budgets, Demands Federal Action on Electricity Fines


Karachi: In a comprehensive meeting chaired by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, the provincial cabinet approved substantial financial allocations for healthcare and policing while demanding the federal government to curb heavy penalties imposed by electricity distribution companies. Key decisions included funding for a new hospital in Tesar Town and the delegation of budgetary powers to Station House Officers (SHOs) across Sindh for enhanced operational effectiveness.



According to Chief Minister Sindh, the meeting addressed several critical administrative and fiscal issues. The cabinet endorsed a proposal from the Sindh Public Service Commission to create a waiting list for job candidates, approved an Rs 367.5 million investment for a 36-bed hospital, and sanctioned new roles in clinical care aimed at boosting healthcare services in the region. It also allocated Rs 6.92 crore to empower 485 police stations with financial autonomy under the guidance of their SHOs.



The discussions also covered reforms in electricity load management, with the Chief Minister criticizing the current practices of distribution companies that lead to unfair fines on consumers for line losses. He emphasized the need for federal intervention to amend existing policies and ensure fair treatment of citizens under the law.



The cabinet meeting, which was attended by provincial ministers, advisors, and other high-ranking officials, also tackled issues related to agriculture and worker welfare, proposing an increase in the minimum wage and implementing reforms in the Sindh Seed Corporation to enhance its efficiency and service to local farmers.
