Karachi, The Custodian Chief Minister of Sindh, Justice (R) Maqbool Baqir, has emphasized the importance of collaboration between the provincial ombudsman of Sindh and the chief ombudsman of Thailand in resolving public grievances, enhancing good governance, and fostering international cooperation in the field of ombudsman. This statement was made during a meeting with the Chief Ombudsman of Thailand/President of IOI Asian Region at the Chief Minister’s House.
According to Sindh Chief Minister House, the meeting saw the participation of Mrs. Nipa Swansugeret, President of the Raving Provincial Red Cross Chapter, and Mrs. Sripooran Tenti Punia Thipu, Deputy Consul General of Thailand, along with other dignitaries. During this gathering, the two ombudsman offices signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate in the area of public grievances redressal and ombudsman-ship.
Provincial Ombudsman Sindh Ijaz Ali Khan, Chief Ombudsman Thailand/President IOI Asian Region, and his wife Mrs. Nippa, President of the Reveng Province Red Cross Chapter Thailand, were on their first visit to Sindh, invited by the Sindh Government. The Chief Minister presided over the ceremony where the MoU was signed, signifying a major step towards enhancing the effectiveness of ombudsman offices in both regions.
The Custodian Chief Minister of Sindh presented traditional Sindhi hats to the distinguished guests, symbolizing cultural exchange and mutual respect. He expressed confidence that this joint cooperation and exchange of expertise would establish the ombudsman offices as role models in the redressal of public grievances, setting a precedent for other regions to follow.
